Pre-Dental

Pre-Dentistry

The pre-dentistry program at Centre offers all of the classes that you need to get into dental school. Centre’s acceptance rate into dental school exceeds 90 percent.

A dental degree is the stepping stone to a career in dentistry, oral-facial surgery, orthodontics, periodontics, and other oral health fields.

Many of our pre-dental students do internships with local dentists, and participate in the free Saturday clinics offered by the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.

Faculty Advisor

Pre-dentistry students should consult with faculty advisor Professor Aaron Godlaski and can reach him by email here or make an appointment using Navigate

What Courses Should I Take?

Students interested in pursuing a degree in dentistry after Centre should expect to take courses in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and other disciplines.

Recommended in Your First Semester

Students should also review the Course Requirements for Dental School and the Dental School Preparation Guide early on and be aware of the prerequisites for upper level courses.

Peer Support

There is a Pre-Dental student organization which often meets separately from the Pre-Health Society and stays connected over social media. Go to the student organization page for more information on how to get involved.

Dental School Visits and Summer Opportunities

Most students will apply to dental school in their state of residence. In Kentucky, your two options are the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville. Both are easily accessible for site visits or to answer questions about enrollment. In January, both schools open applications for summer Professional Education and Preparation Program (PEPP-DMD) at UK and Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) at U of L. More information can be found on their websites.
